What Remains
For turning toward the dark with full hands
Before You Begin
Gather something—an apple, seeds, the last of the garden. Find a threshold and face west, where the sun sets.
The Rite
-
Hold what you’ve gathered. This is what you carry into the dark.
-
Name what you’re grateful for. Not a list. One true thing.
-
Acknowledge the descent. Say: The light and dark stand equal. From here, I go into the dark. I go with what I have. It is enough.
-
Eat or store what you gathered. Both are acts of faith.
Notes
Mabon is the autumn equinox—Ostara’s mirror. Equal light, equal dark, but now the scale tips toward night. Take stock. Go with full hands.
