Threshold Crossing
For beginnings and endings
Before You Begin
Stand at a threshold—a doorway, a gate, the edge of the woods. It does not need to be dramatic. It only needs to be real.
The Rite
-
Pause. Feel your feet on the ground. Notice what is behind you.
-
Name what you are leaving. Speak it aloud or in silence.
-
Name what you are moving toward. This can be uncertain.
-
Cross. Step over the threshold. Do not look back.
-
Breathe. Stand in the new place for three breaths.
Notes
