The Longest Light
For standing in the fullness before the turn
Before You Begin
Wake with the sun, or stay up to meet it. Find a place where the light can reach you fully—no shade, no shelter.
The Rite
-
Stand in the sun. Let yourself be fully seen. This is the year’s full breath.
-
Name what has come to fullness. What have you grown? What has ripened? Speak it aloud.
-
Acknowledge the turn. Say: Even at the height, the wheel is turning. I do not grip. I do not grieve.
-
Make an offering. A flower, a splash of water, a breath. Thank the light. Release your hold on the peak.
Notes
Litha is the sun’s zenith—the longest day, the shortest night. Solstice means “sun standing still.” Celebrate without clinging. Stand in the blaze knowing it will not last.
