Between Two Fires

For leaping toward what you desire

Before You Begin

Light a fire—a candle, a match, a bonfire if you have one. If you can, light two. Stand where you can feel the heat.

The Rite

  1. Stand before the fire. Feel the heat. Fire does not hesitate.

  2. Name what you desire. Not what you should want. What you actually want. Say it aloud.

  3. Leap. Step over the flame, pass your hand above it, or walk between two fires. Let it mark you.

  4. Carry the heat. The fire is in you now. You are allowed to want.

Notes

Beltane means “bright fire.” In the old practice, cattle and people passed between two bonfires for blessing and protection. You entered one thing; you exited another.
